... even if I could afford one!
I was noticing that on the Delhi roads, its the Mercedes, Honda Accord, Toyota Corolla and other fancy car drivers who are the slowest and the ones who can never zig-zag through traffic to get somewhere faster! I mean, me with my little low-segment car can squeeze into a small gap between other cars and hence beat some of the traffic, but I can see the Mercedes driver (owner or hired) wince and slow down so that he doesn't come closer to any other vehicles! Believe me, even I am careful while driving past such a car, but the driver (esp the hired ones!) must be shit scared because he'd get busted even if he brushed against a stationary object or hit a speed breaker too fast!!!
Hmmm.. I'd rather not own a car which causes me to have sleepless nights to let her get on the unkind road!
On second thoughts, may be I would.. I mean if I am rich enough to buy a Merc, won't I be ok with spending a few thousands on it?!

even if I'd be earning huge, Merc shall not be my choice and if it has to be - no india city shall be my prefernce.. you get gapes all over the road - every wants to have a peep inside - doesnt it seem odd??
you possibly would have noticed - even when at a traffic signal when someone peeps into the autorickshaw , how odd it sometimes is - isnt it?
i guess thats how delhi sees a merc... in bbay almost every tenth person has one. its such a commonplace car, along with the beemer, that nobody really cares too much abt seeing a merc.
and again, everyone tries to cut acrtoss everyone in traffice, if possible, tho not as bad as blore... so again.. probably a city perspective...
Get a limo, ma'm :D
lifeasithappens...
oh yeah.. u and cpl of other women i know who love abusing while driving! hehehehe.. u miss delhi traffic?! u've got to be kidding me!
prasoon..
yeah i know what you mean.. people get so curious.. anyways nowadays the Merc/BMW/Camry are all pretty 'oft-sighted' on delhi roads, so the curiosity level is down.. BUT a case in point is that those who buy these cars WANT people to look at them/inside the car! There's a saying 'Nobody would buy a Merc if there was no one to look at it' ! (no i didn't just make that up!) :-))
anon...
well, one thing is that since delhiites are lot more used to 'showing off their best assets', they are more likely to keep the cars in better glistening eye-catching condition! i've seen mercs in bbay, and they don't look that impressive at all, so no wonder no one looks at them twice.. i know its a generalization, but still true to a large extent.. good thing they don't block the roads in bbay atleast!! :-)
candid diary..
if i got a limo, i'll take double the time i already do to get to office.. but then again, if i could afford a limo, i won't need to work in a regular office anymore!
Well,I would like to disagree with you on this:-) your peace of mind would not depend on whether you owned a merc or not,it would only depend on one's attitude.Sure, mercedece would be a costly affair, but guess who would buy it in the first place ,obviously, only the guy who had the money to buy a second one....nobody would put all his savings just for the heck of having it...so there could be people not caring for their costliest things and there could be ones willing to hoard their cheapest assets...all a matter of attitude you see :-)
Yup, I agree to that point of view too, coz as I said in my post, I am sure if I could afford to buy a Merc, I can afford to repair it too!! :-)
benzys are so overrated, esp with the freakin maintainence charges. One lil electrical problem can halt your day. Been there done that.
Anyway i remember delhi traffic and how people use to drive there. No lanes just bindaas anywhere.
